North West Cape is recognised as Western Australia’s most prestigious destination for Game Fishing. Anglers are fortunate enough to have at their disposal a choice of two outstanding fishing grounds. The first of which is Exmouth Gulf with it’s fish rich shallow water, mangrove lined creek systems and numerous shoals and scattered reefs, the second is the West Coast of North West Cape where the fringing Ningaloo Reef is in it self a natural FAD for premier species like marlin, broadbill & sailfish.
Exmouth Game Fishing Club was formed by keen fishermen in the early 1970’s and currently boasts a membership of over 250.
The Club is pro active in the preservation and conservation of Billfish and the club’s tag and release program is testament to the fact. At the time of writing Exmouth Game Fishing Club can lay claim to 147 record Gamefish captures of State, Australian and World record categories covering 28 species as recognised by Game Fishing Association of Australia.
Exmouth Game Fishing Club is host to two WAGFA sanctioned tournaments per year: Western Australia’s premier Game Fishing tournament GAMEX, held in March and the Billfish Bonanza held in November.
