Teenager Tom, Dad David and Grandad George Teasdale from Bunbury came up for Tom’s 13th birthday. The three generations of Teasdale’s had a memorable trip catching Tom’s biggest spangled emperor along with various estuary cod and numerous Charlie court. Other visitors fishing from the shore reported catching 23 fish on their first day! All fish were caught and released off Janz access road and included queenfish, gold spot trevally, goldens and cod.

Ken Dennis from Spearwood, Perth was fishing the south end of the national park and caught a 980mm queenie on a metal slice plus a number of small spangled emperor and trevally on soft plastics.

The two major tournaments are finally here with the International competition underway and Gamex to follow next week. There have been mixed reports with the billfish and although the numbers are lower than expected, the Exmouth Game Fishing Club hope that it will be a successful tournament.

If you are not fishing the competitions and want to learn more about bill fishing, there is a rigging session on at the clubhouse on Friday after 11am. You can come down to learn more and talk to other anglers who have tagged billfish and are willing to help new anglers. Visitors can also come down to the weigh-in sessions each evening of Gamex to see what has been caught for the day. A large part of this competition is the camaraderie and the social catch-up. Don’t forget if you want to go to the band in between the events on the Friday night, you must get a $10 ticket.

Last week we had all sorts of celebrity fishing people in town including Rob Paxivanos filming from Fishing Australia and Paul Worsteling from IFISH. Paul was fishing with Casey Stoner (who LOVES his fishing) and we also had Danny Green in town! There’s no doubt that Exmouth is becoming well known for a great place to relax, unwind (pardon the pun!) and enjoy the outdoors.
