The week after Gamex the marlin are still fired up. Rosco, Marie and friends on Reel Easy fished Easter Saturday after missing the tournament due to house building commitments. Rosco thinks he should just be committed.

The crew fished outside Helby bank and hooked a small marlin almost straight away that jumped off after 20-30 seconds. Shortly after they hooked a much bigger fish (pictured) that carved up the ocean and then played hard to get. This is a bigger fish than any tagged by the 64 Gamex boats over 6 days, funny how the fishing gods work.

In Rosco’s words “The one that got away. But not without a fight. We lost this fish after three and a half hours. We had it on 15kg breaking strain line. I estimate it to be over 200kgs. It would have been a West Australian record but she won the day.”

Nice photo Marie!
