Youngsters Jack and Luke Swensson from Paraburdoo are here on a fishing holiday and have been targeting tusk fish off Mildura Wreck road. The boys caught and released some last year and have returned to see if the fish have grown enough to take home for the family dinner Raymon Head is up with Ray Brockman from Northam for a quick fishing trip to see some relatives. On their first day out they caught eight mackerel! They also caught some nor-west snapper and hooked up to a few sharks.

The boys were stoked with their short stay and will be back for a longer trip next time.Pictured this week is local angler James Spicer with a nice cod caught between the Muiron Islands and the Navy pier last weekend. James was very excited. It was 86cm and 11kg and was caught on 15kg line with 80 pound leader. James is 13 years old and is a keen fisherman who wants to join the fishing club next year along with his Dad.Johnathon Masel and his two uni mates from Perth are up for ten days fishing, but they all wish it was a lot longer, in fact Johnathon wants to come here to live because he loves the fishing so much. The students have hired a boat and tried to get on to a variety of fish. They have managed to get spangled emperor and a rankin cod on the troll off the Muiron Islands. The boys are hoping to catch a red emperor and some gold band job fish. They have spent hours studying the marine charts and asking lots of questions.

They also wanted to catch a marlin and were rewarded for their efforts on Wednesday with a 50kg black that they all took turns on bringing in: that’s what we call team effort! Steve Moore’s boat Fully Sic has had more luck with the billfish this week. The crew went out wide to target big blues and raised five for the day. They tagged one estimated at 300lb and there’s no doubting that this area holds some big fish, especially at this time of year. The Exmouth Game Fishing Club is asking us to remind all current members to RSVP for the Christmas dinner before December 6th.
