There have been some good Mackerel weighed in during Gamex this week along with some good queenfish and Trevally we will give you a full report next week. There have been good numbers of Marlin tagged with one notable mention of Ben Knights capture of a 220kg Black on 24kg spin gear the fight lasted 3 hours on Matt Gates boat IN-DEEP. With 68 boats in the Competition it has been busy out on the water. One boat not fishing the competition had a close call with a Marlin jumping out of the water right next to them not realising that they were close to a boat fishing Gamex, they quickly got out of the way and watched from a distance as the other boat tagged the Marlin.
Anglers not participating in Gamex this week have reported good captures of Coral trout, Spangled Emperor, Chinaman and Blue bone out toward the islands. The shore based anglers have also reported Queenfish Trevally and Spangled Emperor from the west side with the occasional Blue bone. The marina has seen some good Mangrove Jack caught from the walls along with Bream and Cod small Queenfish and Trevally have been scattered throughout. Whiting have been spotted from the shore on the gulf side it shouldn’t be long before good numbers are around. The bottom of the gulf has been fishing great for anyone chasing sharks right throughout the day.
